- S.O.S. “Support Our Students”. A grassroots fundraising campaign (started 2009-2010 school year) made up of eager parents, teachers, administrators, and those who care about a child’s education. The purpose is to raise the much needed funding to maintain the programs and integrity of the Vacaville Unified School District. Our schools are in a crisis and the district has a chance to do something no other district in the state has done and that is to be SELF-RELIANT. We need your help! The state budget debacle and deficit have had such an adverse affect on the Vacaville School District’s budget, we can no longer sit back and do nothing. This fundraising campaign is an attempt to close a multimillion dollar shortfall in our district’s state funding. We encourage all of you to contribute what you can and rally your network of family, friends, and employers to do the same. Vacaville is the BEST Community for Young People. Please Give and Support Our Students.
Has the blog committee thought of calling KCRA News to get you in teh public eye. This is a crisis throughout the state and should be brought to thier faces in public news. I have called contact 3, but I really think more people calling them or emailing them will get a bigger response and quicker. I did not see any news stations at our March and want to see our issues brought forward so that we can reach more people of our crisis. Our students depend on us.
ReplyDeleteGREAT COMMENT! I know that MANY people have been writing the news stations to put this in the public eye. I know that a TON of people emailed channel 10 news for the march, but because there were riots at the colleges, I think we fell out of the spotlight.
ReplyDeleteI think that if EVERYONE wrote the news stations and the local newspapers, we can help make people aware of both the problem (state funding for public education is being cut) and the SOLUTION (the S.O.S. Fundraising Campaign).
